Ask for the one who is by the entrance. He'll give you a great haircut, and he's fun to talk to. He's in demand, and for good reason, so be sure to call ahead for an appointment. I was referred to Maria by a colleague. I have extremely wavy hair and my stylist didnt seem to be able to give me a good look. I went to Maria a few days ago. My hair never looked better. I am going back to her for color next week. Thanks, Maria. Great Meeting you. ----- I took my 12 year old daughter to Maria and she gave her a great, very age appropriate cut. My daughter is so happy with it, and it's very easy for her to keep up with. Thanks Maria...you did a wonderful job! ----- Maria cut my hair 2 weeks ago. I am a 43 Yo, busy mom who like to looks current but hates to fuss too much with my hair. I drove ALL the way from NEW HOPE to have her cut my hair because she is so talented! I have not stopped getting compliments and hardly have to do much after washing it..I towel dry... and I'm on my way..AND it looks awesome!!! I also appreciated that she listened to my needs and didn't just do what SHE wanted...she gave suggestions and worked with me. I HIGHLY recommend this stylist! ----- My cousin was Dennie Petrone. For anyone who knew anything about hair stylists, Dennis was the creme'de le creme. He started at Guy Russel, then opened A Cut Above, then moved on to NY. Since he passed (25 years ago), I havent had a decent hair cut. Then, I was introduced to Maria Finizio . She cut and colored my hair the last 2 hair cuts.. It's great. I can do it on my own, and it lonks good even when it is grown in. Thanks, Maria! Terry. ----- Nadine fixed a disastrous haircut I got years ago and I have been going to her ever since. My teenage boys go to her, too. Her cuts flatter, take off years, and grow in beautifully. I wouldn't go anywhere else. There is no mystery here. Experience matters when it comes to hair cutting. Price is no object when it comes to a great cut. The ideal situation is to find a stylist whose scissor's edge stays on top of "trends" as well as can handle the classic strong hair cuts. Thanks, Maria! See you soon. ----- I am not surprised to see that Lizz B is getting so much praise. She has been cutting, highlighting, and sexifying my hair for 2 years now, and I will never stray. Make an appointment before word spreads even more. Then just show up and let her work her magic. I never tell her what I think I want, she usually tells me what my hair needs to make it look hot and I let her take it from there. People will stop you on the street and ask you who does your hair- seriously, a Lizz B haircut will make you provocative. Additionally, I have never been more at ease around a hairdresser- We chat like old friends, she tells me about her dogs and her boy and her latest tattoos and adventures, and every time I see her she wants an update on my job, love life, roommates, etc. She really gets to know you and wants to make you look your best. I have 4 friends who religiously go to her as well. She is the real deal- whether you're a boy or a girl, need something business-chic, Asymmetrical, or any color under the sun- She will revitalize your hair and you will turn heads. She is talented and cutting edge, and you should really take advantage of her while she's affordable and available in Philadelphia... because this girl spins hair into GOLD. ----- If you are looking for a great stylist who does not charge exorbitant prices, look no further. Richard Nicolas stylists all charge the same fee (currently $60 for cut/$60 for one color), which is fabulous...no hidden charges, no complicated stylist hierarchy. The salon is very chic yet comfortable, and their clientele is incredibly diverse. Joe Matteo is amazing with both color and cuts. I first saw him after a disastrous highlighting job (terrible blonde on my dark brown hair), and in just one all-over color he gave me a beautiful brunette with a hint of violet-red (way better than my natural color). I have returned many times since, to have Joe cut my curly hair. I bring in photos of the cut I'd like, he replicates it exactly. I highly recommend Joe - he really understands color and he really listens to his clients. Every time I go, I see many loyal, satisfied customers. I was never fully satisfied with my hair until I met Joe M. at Richard Nicholas. In my opinion he is the best stylist/colorist in this city. He is great to talk to and has kept my hair cut and color updated over the years. Richard Nicholas has great service and always accommodates my busy schedule. ----- Thanks for the great cut Maria, it was so nice chatting with you. I really love my new style, I feel so much younger. See you in 6 weeks for color. ----- It was a fun experience. everyone was nice, clean, good hair cut. Forgot the name of my cutter, but it was a good cut. ----- Gabby is learning to cut hair under the supervision of Joey, a stylist that works at the salon. I just recently got my first amazing haircut and it was at Richard NIcholas Hair Studio! My stylist was Rose, she was so sweet and knew exactly what i wanted! i have really curly hair and every stylist that has ever put their hands on my head has given me harsh layers but Rose knew exactly how to cut and blend my layers so they didn't look like stacks or steps! She suggested different techniques on how to style my hair to prevent frizz and how to apply the product to my massive amount of hair. She gave so many good tips! I am finally not ashamed of my horrible curls they look beautiful! Thanks to Rose!! I'm going back for color! ----- I have stalked Lizz since she has been at Bubbles! haha! I didn't know much about hair, so I went to the closest place I knew, and I got set up with Lizz. Well, from then on, I knew that NO ONE would EVER touch my hair again! I told her that she better not move to LA and start working on celebrities, because it's going to cost me so much to fly out there-- but I still would! Seriously though, she is the best hair stylist I know. I always say, "Do whatever you want," and I always leave MORE than happy. I HIGHLY recommend this salon (especially Lizz) to EVERYONE (I always do!) Pros: Lizz Bierman is there Cons: I don't get to go enough ----- I have been going to this salon for years! In fact, I moved away from Philly, and just came back to the area, and back to Joe and Nick Sr. This place is warm, relaxed, and they offer wonderful haircare. Joe is great at coloring, and Nick Sr. gives my long curly hair the TLC it needs! Definitely worth the trip! I was referred here by a random person I met at a party whose hair I loved, she found Richard Nicholas by stopping someone on the street who had an awesome curly haircut. This speaks volumes of how great the cuts are. I went to see Rose. I was very nervous because of all the bad experiences I had in the past, very nervous, and i wanted to cut off alot of hair so she took her time and cut my hair in steps. Not only did I have a totally relaxing and enjoyable experience but I left with the most amazing haircut I had ever had. I have since gone back to Rose 6 times and have tried different cuts and have never left unhappy. If you have curly hair and need a great cut see Rose at Richard Nicholas. The price was grea as well. For an amazing haircut it was $50. I would rather pay $50 for a great haircut then 30 for a very bad one somewhere else. This place is great, they treat me well, and never make you feel out of place. SOrry can you tell Im a fan. I've been going to him for 5 years now and am never disappointed. Joe takes the time to listen to what I want. On the occasion when I want to try something new, he makes suggestions and I always leave there looking amazing. We have done both long and short cuts as well as color treatments. He's a pro. Be prepared to call at least a few weeks in advance to schedule. It's worth the wait! Thanks, Maria! ----- Maria at Richard Nicholas Salon never lets me down. She's an amazing stylist and colorist. Maria listens to what you want and always cuts your hair better than than you imagined. She's great at understanding what you want at then creating it. It's always worth my time and money because when I get out of Maria's chair I feel and look great. I highly recommend her. The staff at Richard Nicholas Salon is very personable and will make your hairstyling experience a pleasure. Try it. You will be very satisfied that you did. I've been going to RN for three years, and it's by far the best salon I've ever been to. I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone but Danielle. She just straightened my hair with a new Keratin Complex Relaxer and it looks Fantastic. After trying everything to straighten my color treated, thick, frizzy, out-of-control hair, Danielle solved my problem and even gave me an outstanding cut as well! The process is great because it didn't change the makeup of my hair like other straighteners. It won't leave that obvious line when it grows out. No burning, no lost hair, just great hair! I just blow-dry it now without spending time with a straight iron and tons of money on product. I've referred quite a few personal friends to Danielle George at RN. She's the Best. ----- If you are interested in looking great, Danielle George is the stylist for you. She is creative, and always up to date on the current styles, is articulate in explaining the different cuts and what will look great on you. In addition she has a great smile ----- I've been styled here since '97. I love the great work Joe Matteo does, and my narcissistic side loves the compliments that ensue. I've read about other salons where clients talked about horrible vibes and sadly insecure people who projected their stuff on them. Huh? In over eight years of getting cut (and occasionally colored) at Richard Nicholas, I've always felt like this was a place I was glad -- no thrilled -- to be. It's also great to see others walking out of here with great hair and great flow. I lived in DC for 10 years and couldn't find a place like this. Should I find myself elsewhere, knowing that Richard Nicholas is just a train or plane away would be more than enough to keep me coming back.
